Steven E. Sextonson, 79, of Waukesha, WI, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026.
Born February 25, 1947, in Rockford, the son of C. Einar and Elsa (Klank) Sextonson.
Graduate of Guilford High School, Class of 1965. Steven married Candace “Candy” J. Ruefer on September 15, 1979. He owned and operated ESCO Grinding. Steven was a veteran of the National Guard for six years. He enjoyed horses for many years and drove carriages. Steven was an avid scuba diver exploring cold water wrecks, playing racquetball, and shooting black powder and sporting clays.
Survived by his wife, Candy; children, Eric (Ann) Sextonson and Erin (Andre) Schraufnagel; grandchildren, Samantha, Addison, Amelia, Elsa, and Gregory; several cousins; as well as his best buddies, Bogart and Gretchen. Predeceased by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Private burial in Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60601.
