A Legacy of Outdoor Sportsmanship

Founded in 1950, Downers Grove Sportsmen’s Club (DGSC) has been a cornerstone of Illinois shooting sports and outdoor recreation for more than seven decades. Originally located in Downers Grove Township, the club moved in 1995 to its current 485-acre property in Morris, Illinois, to expand its facilities and accommodate a growing membership.

From the beginning, DGSC’s mission has been simple yet enduring: to promote safe firearms handling, foster good sportsmanship, and provide a welcoming environment for shooters of all ages and skill levels.

Premier Shooting Facilities

Whether you’re a seasoned shooter or just getting started, DGSC offers one of the most complete shotgun sports facilities in the Midwest:

  • Trap & Skeet Fields: 8 total fields — including 5 combination trap/skeet and 3 trap-only setups — perfect for both casual practice and registered competition.

  • Sporting Clays & 5-Stand: A beautifully designed 14-station sporting clays course plus a dynamic 5-stand (FITS) setup for quick, challenging rounds.

  • Lighted Fields: Six lighted ranges allow for evening shooting, especially popular on Friday nights throughout the warmer months.

  • Clubhouse & Kitchen: A comfortable clubhouse with a full kitchen serving breakfast and snacks during shooting hours — a great spot to relax between rounds.

  • Education & Instruction: Certified instructors are available by appointment, with programs focused on firearm safety, fundamentals, and youth development.

DGSC proudly hosts ATA and ISSA-registered tournaments, local league nights, and open events for the public.

Membership & Hours

Downers Grove Sportsmen’s Club welcomes both members and guests, offering flexible shooting options throughout the week.

Typical Hours of Operation:

  • Friday Evenings (Apr–Nov): 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM

  • Saturday & Sunday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Membership options and guest pricing can be found directly on the club’s website.

Events, Leagues & Community

DGSC maintains a busy year-round schedule of shoots, leagues, and special events, including:

  • Club and “Indian” shoots

  • Registered ATA & ISSA competitions

  • Fall and summer leagues

  • Annual memorial and community events

The club is also proud to support youth programs, Scouts, and safety education initiatives, helping to introduce the next generation to responsible outdoor recreation.

Why Shooters Choose DGSC

  1. Unmatched Variety: Multiple shooting disciplines in one location.

  2. Commitment to Safety: Certified instructors and strong range oversight.

  3. Community Focus: A friendly, welcoming environment for all.

  4. Rich Heritage: Over 75 years of continuous operation and growth.
