Learn the Skills for a Lifetime at the Illinois Hunter's Wingshooting Clinic October 10-11 2026
Whether you're preparing for your first upland bird hunt or looking to improve your shotgun skills before the season opens, the Illinois Hunter's Wingshooting Clinic offers a unique opportunity to learn from experienced instructors in a safe and supportive environment.
Sponsored by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) and the Illinois Conservation Foundation (ICF), this popular educational event will be held Saturday or Sunday, October 10–11, 2026, at Oak Ridge Sportsman's Club in Mackinaw, Illinois.
Designed for hunters of all experience levels, the clinic focuses on developing the skills and confidence needed for ethical, successful wingshooting in the field. Participants will receive instruction from Illinois DNR and NSCA Certified Coaches, who provide hands-on guidance covering proper shotgun handling, shooting fundamentals, target acquisition, gun fit, safe firearm practices, and techniques that translate directly to real hunting situations.
Morning and afternoon sessions are available, allowing participants to choose the schedule that best fits their weekend. The clinic's small-group instruction ensures personalized coaching, giving attendees plenty of opportunities to ask questions, receive feedback, and build confidence before the fall hunting season.
Beyond improving shooting skills, the Hunter's Wingshooting Clinic promotes responsible hunting, firearm safety, and conservation ethics—core values that help preserve Illinois' rich outdoor heritage for future generations.
